Website creation and a logo inspired by the client’s pre-existing imagery
Here’s the story
Lauren is an author and speaker and tells me that her mission statement is to inspire people to intentionally share the world they want to see.
I met Lauren through Drive the Network and love to spend time with her over Zoom. I was honoured when she asked me to create a simple, three-page website to consolidate her services in one place.
Using her platform of choice, Squarespace, the site design is inspired by the colours of her pre-existing book covers and uses imagery that Lauren had collected.
Budgets can run away with themselves and get used up on photo shoots or revised branding. Often it’s a good idea to pause and take stock of the collateral that is already present and think about how to use this creatively. The great thing about a website is that it can be developed and that’s exactly what Lauren’s website does. It’s a place to be curious and then leap off to her Substack page but there’s space to add more articles on the site.
In addition, I developed her pre-existing logo into two versions that can be used as a portrait and landscape so they’re easily adapted to all forms of social media and print.
What Hello Lovely did
I created a wireframe inspired by the brief and developed the logo whilst Lauren worked with her copywriter, Mariah Stanley.
The sitemap is the ‘base plate’ or template for the site design and it allows a site strategy to be formed without spending time on the website platform. It’s low-tech, quick and low-risk. Incidentally, it’s a great way to brief a developer if they want to build the site and require a designer to provide the creative.
Once the logos were finalised and the copy received, I began the website design. It’s always better to have images and copy ready before the serious design part starts as these can influence the site layout. After some tweaks, coding and training, the website went live. As ever, I’m on hand for updates after the site launch.
Software: Squarespace, Sketch, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
